Block paving is often the preferred finish for many people. Unfortunately, there are many companies offering this service at extortionate prices which can be off putting.
It would be fair to say that each drive is different, as indeed is the individuals choice. Therefore we try to keep things simple with a choice of coloured blocks all at the same price.
This drive has been laid using BRINDLE blocks with a charcoal surround laid as a soldier course. The original drive was a concrete sub-base and a thin layer of wearing course on top
There were 80 square metres in total and was priced @ £45 per metre. This price included all materials, labour, excavating original drive and disposing of debris.
These pictures were taken 1 week after completion. As you can see there is sand laying on top. This is quite normal as the rain and wind affects the settling down process of the sand. A quick brush over and it will look like new.
We also laid the gravel to this front garden, as an extra which was agreed whilst we were on site.
All sanded and ready to start, this new drive has just been completed 28th March 2009.
Charcoal boarder and "Autum Gold" main block laid to a 90 degree herringbone pattern.
Just to the left of the garage pier you can see the down pipe. We were able to run a gulley, connected to the storm drain, which prevents any possible pooling.
Getting there with a good blend of colours. For more pictures
