Decorating a Garage Converted to a Bedroom

Now that the car park has been completely transformed into a bedroom, it is time to adorn it accordingly. How you approach the makeover work can be similar to that of an ordinary sleeping area, but there may be some restrictions to your interior styles. That is because one part of the garage may have no windows. So, how do you successfully create a cosy look and feel to your newly converted garage?

One, utilise every floor area available to you. You could install as many cabinets, drawers, and storage as possible. If there is an existing loft, then you can also use it to hold your belongings.

Two, lay down carpets or thick rugs. Because the room is near roads and pavements, these floor coverings are necessary for soundproofing or lessening the noise coming from outside. They also promote a cosier appeal compared to bare and dull-looking concrete.

Three, paint the walls with bright colours. Avoid using dark shades as they would lend the sleeping area a cave-like appearance. Now that is something you would not want to achieve since it will also make the space feel small and crammed.

Four, add the right lighting to the appropriate places. You should put lamps in areas that do not receive plenty of natural light or that are located far from the windows. And, even if there are existing fluorescent fixtures, you should not rely on them alone. Better yet, you should use similar lights found inside your home since the space is no longer a garage, but a bedroom.

Lastly, add furniture that is proportionate to the space. If you plan to place other items aside from the mattress, make sure that they would still allow enough room to move. You should also arrange them strategically, such as pushing large pieces back to the wall to achieve a wider appearance.
